The Seal Cub Clubbing Club have a book club. Say that five times fast and you deserve a prize. Bizarrely enough, it's true; this five piece band brings books on tour for fans to take away or add to. This obviously unique band is releasing their first single, "Dawn Lamb" from their upcoming debut album, entitled "Super Science Fiction", on 6th April.
The Seal Cub Clubbing Club formed on the Wirral Peninsula, recorded two EP's with Paul Tipler (Stereolab, iForward, Russia!, 80's Matchbox B-Line Disaster) and honed their skills while on tour with The Fall, British Sea Power, Field Music, Black Wire, Brakes, and Idiot Pilot. They played a coveted spot at Glastonbury 2008 and have received the support from the likes of Steve Lamacq, who interviewed them on his BBC 6 Music radio show.
"Dawn Lamb", along with the rest of "Super Science Fiction", was recorded with top-drawer producer Barney (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, and the Enemy). This radio-friendly single features a ridiculously catchy chorus that is sure to get as stuck in your head as saying the band name gets stuck on your tongue. Featured alongside the radio edit are remixes by Tom Eno, who contributed to the "Hotel Costes" compilation series of releases from an hotel in Paris of the same name and Gillan McLaughlin (aka Polka Face). The Seal Cub Clubbing Club plans to bring their music (and books) on the road for warm up dates in February and March with a full tour and album launch to follow. Better practice up on saying the name; it'll soon be on everyone's lips.
