Cloud hails from Los Angeles via Boston via New York and is issuing his debut LP on acclaimed UK "Specialists in Commercial Suicide" label, Audio Antihero. "Comfort Songs" is an LP of enthralling Alternative Pop which is drunk on optimism yet deep in regret; sonically vast and heavily percussive the album is gorgeously layered with rich piano, violin, gang vocals, trumpet, trombone, piercing guitars and fog thick atmosphere. Leading single "Mother Sea" was a perfect introduction to Cloud's rich textures and desperate torn vocals, thrashing piano and twisting rhythms with the lament that "I know it's not your fault, babe...;how beautiful songs get old" leading to a heavenly jam-band climax...but it was just the tip of the iceberg.
Similarities can be drawn to Constellations artists like Clues, All-American Indie Rock groups like Sunny Day Real Eatate and American Football, the layered genre experiments of Modest Mouse and even a hint of that classic 60s pop/singer-songwriter sound...but just a hint.
