Four years later, after a long period of dead silence,Alf Tumble&Combofinally deliver the album that they onced promised us. And with the result in our hands, we can honestly say that we could easily have waited another four years - there is simply no expiry date on Bangana's warm and melodic oldschool-sound. When first being released, the singles "Dead End" (recently re-released with new remixes), "Roses" and "Skrik" placed the duo at the centre of attention on the underground club scene, and we are convinced that the album as a whole will reach new fans amongst djs, music connoisseurs, and of course on dance floors across the globe.
Back in 2007 Alf Tumble & Combo were nominated for a SwedishGrammywith theirSumoalbum "The Danceband" - an album packed with organic Latin and Afro grooves. Strengthened by the success they decided to take the percussive elements from "The Danceband" and put them into a new, darker and less sunny context -Bangana. A combination which immediately gave them a name on the more eclectic dance scene. Bangana songs were championed by djs likeCarl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Gilles Peterson, JazzanovaochTrickski, and the duo where booked to dj at clubs likeAir(Tokyo),Cielo(New York),Fabric(London),La Terrassa(Barcelona) ochBed(Bangkok).
But when they were about to finalize their album something unforseen happened. The duo couldn't agree on the final result. After numerous quarrels they split up in 2009. Alf moved to another studio where he amongst other things produced house tracks together withRasmus FaberonDefectedandFarplane Records. Combo on the other hand focused on old school grooves and released EPs onRebirthandEndless Flight. It would take them four years to find their way back. Regardless how it happened we are grateful and happy to finally be able to present the album that never happened - Bangana are back!
