'San Frantico' is two-and-a-half minutes of breakneck soul jazz, featuring Eddie Roberts's familiar chicken-scratch guitar and a Hammond organ that purrs, growls and screams.
The 'B' side 'Chocolate Chip' features a fabulous repetitive swirling piano hook that really drives the track along. Add in flute by guest Chip Wickham, crispy drums, throbbing bass and subtle guitar for a classic NMS groove. Very much a 'Sonny Lester' sound.
These are the first cuts to emerge from the forthcoming record 'Ten Years On' which will be the band's sixth studio album.
