Australian sound artist Oren Ambarchi continues his otherworldy investigations with "In The Pendulum's Embrace" his 4th album for Touch after "Grapes From The Estate" (TO:61, 2004), "Suspension" (T33.18, 2001) and "Insulation" (T33.16, 1999).
Returning again to the hallowed halls of BJB Studios in Sydney, Ambarchi expands the scope and range of his unique musical language incorparating glass harmonica, strings, bells, piano, and guitars whilst still creating a world unmistakably his own throughout the album's three lengthy pieces. A tenuous coexistence of fragility and density, sounds light as air to wall shaking low-end. The converted already know the kind of trance inducing euphoria of Ambarchi's music. Newcomers will be scouting his back catalogue.
Pitchfork (USA) "On a day when your transmission drops to the asphalt and the humidity's enough to fry your brains, Oren Ambarchi's resonating, disembodied guitarisms establish a soothing alternate universe"
The Wire (UK) ""This is intelligent, thoughtful, proactive ambience."
Boomkat (UK) " Incredible stuff from this great artist once again - Highly recommendedâ?¦ Ambarchi's immense achievement is through his sense of timing, pace and definition - slowly building pieces upto warm, glowing echoes that use drone like beginings and head into sumptuous soundscaped vistas"
