Fresh off the back of the success of their debut release with big support from Quantic, Jon Kennedy (Xfm) and The Nextmen: The DJ Hoop reworks can be heard on the latter's latest mix album 'Not The Nextmen' - Leisure Recordings is proud to present the first release from new signing Mr Benn, a genre-defying turn around the floor.
Mr Benn is a Bristol-based producer and musician. His eclectic music taste and diverse DJ sets have taken him across the globe to Singapore and Las Palmas with the WOMAD festivals.
Jamaican born MC Souls Liberation teamed up with Mr Benn about two years ago when Benn overheard his combination of ragga and smooth raps and knew it would provide the perfect accompaniment his production. Hyping up the crowd and dropping conscious lyrics alike, he is a true master of ceremonies.
Take It Back is an uptempo disco-dub workout taking in many styles, with a classic soul vocal, disco break, funk guitars and hip hop flavourings already finding favour with DJs across the spectrum. It's a particular favourite with those leaning to the left of centre.
The Jump featuring MC Souls Liberation is a reggae hiphop smasher. Mr Benn deploys a classic reggae rhythm while Souls Liberation lays down the sweet rhymes. Guaranteed to set it off.
The package is rounded off by the label's own Leisure Allstars rework of Take It Back. Calling it the Game Of Three Halves Re-smash, it emphasises the dub elements of the original and toughens it up for a fuller rolling sound.
