To create new interpretations of JSBLs debut mini album "Twice Upon Two Times", featuring a wide range of influences without losing too much of the generic and special JSBL temper was kind of a guideline in the preliminary stages.
"Twice Upon Two Times Remixed" starts with a funky head nodding mid-tempo version with very significant vocal samples. ItÂ's the version from â??Der Mann mit den Schwankungen" ("The Man with the Fluctuations") by rare groove, hiphop and dope beat specialist Urbs from the legendary viennese G-Stone label.
The next one is a home fixture. Dorian Concept - one out of four @ JSBL and in charge of mind-blowing keys/synth lines. This dude who is frequently in action with his liveshows presents one of his earlier works. His remix of "The Flu" is a really punchy and crispy floating roller with deep chords.
Responsible for the epic "Parental Square Â'79" rendition is the accomplished Bristol based producer and bassplayer Crackazat. He transformed the bizarre original into a striking slow shuffle broken house tune that will stay on your mind like premium Wimbledon strawberries with whipped cream.
Sam Irl is a high-profile producer from Bavaria with an affectation for synthesizers, samplers and vintage drum computers. Most of the sounds in his "Jimbo" treatment were created on a MPC and so it proves to be a reliable groove machine for almost every club from Singapore to Buenos Aires.
